hashar: tidy disabled

I disabled the tidy engine on wikimedia server tonight. It was causing some weird trouble with the cluster, eventually rendering it useless.

So now that tidy is disabled, pages are no more automaticly fixed and all wikipedians should fix their broken HTML / wikisyntax :o)

The good news is that the site is back up \O/

Update nov 14th 22:45 UTC: Someone wrote a guide to help everyone fix their signatures http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:How_to_fix_your_signature

Good to hear that the sites are back. :) I kinda missed Wiktionary tonight...

Heh. Yes, it is... ^^

I wonder if that's why one of my entries kept breaking. :D

Any particular reason why tidy was taken off... I'm assume it was adding load to the servers?

All the sites were practically inaccessible for several hours, at least. If tidy is a bottleneck the removal of which leads to an improvement of that situation, then I'm all for it.

well there was some apaches blocked in the Parser:Internaltidy hook, so i though disabling it would help. At the sametime mark was also restarting LVS.

Anyway, our gods, brion & tim, seems to have solved the issue and most probably tidy is active again on the site :o)

Thank you for the info..I was wondering why my talk and userpages were screwed up.

Seems it is mostly those with large, html-intensive sigs who are affected.
